For All You Game of Thrones Fans! The National Trust property of Castleward near Strangford has been the filming location for Game of thrones for a number of years. There are six set locations, with Winterfell being the largest which was filmed in the farmyard. (13.6 miles - 25mins ) The Qouile river on the outskirts of Downpatrick was the setting for Riverrun in the Riverlands, the most memorable scene being a Tully funeral attended by Rob Stark and his mother Catelyn 5.1 miles Inch Abbey just outside Downpatrick is the remains of a 12th century Cistercian Monastery was the set location for Robb Stark's camp in Riverrun featured just before the battle where the Stark army capture Jaime Lannister and learnt of the death of Ned Stark. A beautiful setting overlooking the Qouile river and the Down cathedral. (5.2 miles - 10mins)
